I gave this to my niece for her 8th birthday and it was absolutely her favorite gift. Every time I see her she tells me how much she loves it. The book comes with a full-color poster, which she hung on her wall and studies every night so she can tell me some new fact about crystals every time I see her. As if that wasn't enough, the book also comes with a CD of crystal and gem clip art, so she can make her own arts & crafts projects. Great value for the money.
I first got this book at the library but after renewing it 5 times I realized I had to buy it because my son won’t put it down. My 2nd grader loves it.
Purchased this book for my 10 year old grandson who is very interested in gemstones and where they come from. Also purchased two other books for him that were more geared toward adults. He is an avid reader and wise beyond his years. I honestly thought that he would be more interested in the other gemstone books. This is his favorite and I think it is because of all the illustrations. Perhaps too, the font is larger and the way it is presented in the book, it is great information that is not overwhelming to a younger person.
My 6 year old son loves these books - they are really fun for kids (and grown ups!). The pictures are lovely and high quality, and there is a ton of information in them. Highly recommend.
The book is just beautifully illustrated with significant facts, however it is not too in depht. It did come with a large poster that can also be used as a visual aide and with a CD . It was fine for my ten year old daughter to do her research on crystals with, ( which is the reason why we bought it) but she had to find additional information in other books and the internet in order to get her research done. Overall everyone in the family did enjoy looking through its pages and learning the facts.
We are using this as our supplement to our geology class. Very informative and relevant to all ages. Great find!
Very informative, well illustrated, scientifically researched, some important info about superstitions and crystals. My 12 year old granddaughter was reading this book with me and found it a good addition to her school science lessons.
My 5 year old son has developed an intense interest in rocks, crystals, and gems. He LOVES this book even though a lot of the information is over his head----it is chock full of beautiful pictures and interesting information. It is a book that will definitely grow with him---I'm in my 40's and learning things I didn't know about crystals and gems. :)
