So I downloaded this book as a Kindle Unlimited read. I got so engrossed and invested in the story and characters that when I finished it, I went back to Amazon and bought it. It was that good. So much intrigue, plots, and machinations! Oh and can't forget the non-stop action. I never go through the plot and story when I write a review. If you want that read what the story is about from the publisher. I just want you to know this is a don't ever put down book till the finish! Absolutely engrossing! Its fantasy finally for the LBGTQ community. Download it, read it and then suffer like I am waiting for the next installment. We'll suffer together! LOVE THIS BOOK!
This book had everything I love wrapped into an exciting and suspenseful adventure!! I really enjoyed watching the main character (Princess) develop over the span of the story. I was slightly worried because she started out being a spoiled brat, but watching her grow and find strength in her own abilities was everything I love in a character. The main love interest is also an inspiration. Joslyn’s strength (she is a legit badass) and wise counsel is the catalyst the Princess needs to become the ruler she is meant to be.I can’t wait for book 2!!
Damn this was good. When is book 2 please? I normally wait to read a book when I know there are more in a series until the rest are out. Having read her other novels I couldn't stop. This is a longer novel but i still finished in one sitting. Please release book 2 soon!!!
I won't go into the story. There are enough reviews that do that. I'm partial to sci fi/fantasy and have read/watched a lot of them. This is a must read if you are too. I waited impatiently for this one and now I will have to wait for book 2. I hve some books that I've enjoyed so much I reread them multiple times. I can easily see this being one of those.
Game of Thrones with a women-lovin' twist! I literally stayed up al night and finished this novel. Love this author and how she portrays her characters. The development of Joslyn and Tasia is a-mazing, I felt like my heart soaring and sinking throughout the entire book! Can't wait for the 2nd book!
I very much enjoyed this book. Highly recommended. The characters are very well developed. There is a lot of intrigue and suspense. It reminded me of the series ‘When Women Were Warriors’. Can not wait for the next one!
I really enjoyed this book. Like pretty much everyone else here, I'm looking forward to the second one! Fleshed out characters and nice plot weaving. It's refreshing to have a well-written LGBTQ fantasy! It's edited better than most indie books, but there were still a few annoying mistakes. Nothing to pull you too far out of the story, though. Knowing the next books weren't out yet, I tried to slow up my reading to make it last longer, but still got pulled in and pretty much raced through it. Enjoyable world building and characters you care about - even the minor ones. Well done!
Tasia isn't a bad character. She's not exactly realistic if you consider that she's supposed to be a princess of an empire that has existed for 1000 years (or some 50 generations.) There seemed to be no traditions that had ossified over those 1000 years, which made her a bit of a cypher at times, and the organization of the empire was thinly thought out.But that is what this story did so well. I'll admit that I'm a lover of history and have taken the time to learn about empires on Earth, which often has me shaking my head when a writer creates an empire that shouldn't be possible, which this empire sadly qualifies for.That doesn't destroy the story for me, but it did make some of the plot twists and turns to be more annoying than exciting or interesting. I just had a hard time picturing the various mistakes described in the tale as being possible.But it is a solid start of a story, just in an impossible world. So I can give it 3 stars and say that its worth a look if you like the genre. But if you want a level of realism in the world, this story will likely annoy you more than a little.
