About the Author
John S. Johnson was an author of the twentieth century. The Rosary in Action serves as a compendium of information on renewing one's devotion to the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary. If this book doesn't make you a believer in the power of the rosary and the wonders of Our Lady's intercession, nothing will. Although some comments are out of date (such as the predictions of the impending fall of the Soviet Union), it's worth noting that the predictions written about have come to pass. We have the benefit of hindsight now. Many common sense recommendations for praying the rosary effectively are given (e.g. pray the rosary with pictures of the mysteries, and many others). The history of the rosary devotion is also discussed. The author's childlike love for Mary shines through on every page. This is not a sophisticated philosophical treatise on the rosary. It is inspirational, encouraging and down to earth. It is written for Mary's simple children who mostly lead ordinary lives and strive, in their own hidden ways, to love their Mother and cooperate with her so that God may be better known and loved. It is written for those of us who wish to honor her and obey her request to meditate and pray the rosary with consistency so that we may arrive at a state of profound gratitude and reverence toward her Son. I hope this books stays in print a LONG time! It has been a great blessing to my family's prayer life.
